Our First Film Festival

Tena koutou whanau!  We are delighted to share with you that our cluster of schools, Te Purapura Ngatahi o Manaiakalani held it’s very first film festival.    We tuned in at 9.30am and watched the livestream of our festival.   Our whole school came to our classroom and watched the 9 fantastic films.   There were films that were very informative, some were very entertaining, some were humourous and some though provoking.

Some of our favourites were the Amazing Mana Race, the Pokemon movie and Empathy.    We are going to blog about the films we enjoyed the most on our own blogs soon!

Well done to all the schools who produced the films.  St Joseph’s is very excited to contribute films in 2026!  Watch this space!

Maths Week School Challenge

Today at St Josephs our teacher had a great event for us to participate in.  It was all about using our knowledge in maths to work out problems.  We also had to work as a team!  This photo is from my classroom, I ran the ‘Money Toss’ station.   The goal for each team was to raise more than $3,000 by landing their ping pong balls into the cups.

Please look at my poster here to find out more about what I enjoyed the most!

Kia orana – Kuki Airani Week!

Kia orana tatou katoatoa.   We hope you are all well and enjoying the Cook Island Language Week!  Today we learned about now ei katu (flower head garlands) are made.   We also learned about how they are worn at all types of celebrations in our Cook Island communities.  This week we saw Mrs Tolai wearing one too at school!

In all our cultures we wear special cultural items and clothing as part of our identity and way of celebrating or honouring an event or person.   See what our lovely Miss Carumba has created.  The rest of Room 10 will post their creations on their own blogs soon.

God bless you all – Meitaka maata!

Term 2 Reflection

Hello everyone!

Term 2 had been super fun and full of challenges as well. During this term, I have to do a lot of reading so I could share what I learned to my Room 10 friends. Being kind and always cheerful helped me build more friendship here in St Joseph’s School. Guess what? I am shy to say that I am not really good in playing sports although I used to play basketball when I was in High School. I think for a start, I will just practice my dribbling skills again. Maybe, when I get better I could play netball. I love teaching and learning so much. I realized, I haven’t much time taking care of myself. I miss cooking healthy foods, doing exercise and having a good sleep. These will be my goals for the term break. Yay! I can’t wait for school holiday to come!

Term 2 Reflections

As our term comes to an end it’s time to reflect on how we’ve done as learners, friends and children of God!   Clarence along with all his class mates completed a quick reflection on the term.    What we love about St Joseph’s is that we strive for academic excellence that always includes how we practice our faith in caring and being kind to one another.   Have a wonderful break everyone.    Go here to see more from Clarence.

God bless!

Happy Easter

Hallelujah!   We hope you had a wonderful Easter break.   We love learning at this time of the year as we reflect on the Lord’s sacrifice for us and how he lives!

We pray you have had a blessed Easter.

God bless you all.

My animation of Fijian Waqa (double hulled canoe)

Bula vinaka!

For Fijian Language week we learned how to create this animation in google slides.  We borrowed an image of photos of Fiji’s beautiful sea and waqa.    This animation was created by Jayden in Room 10.  What did you do as part of learning during Fijian language week?  Let me know in the comments below.

You can see more from Jayden by going to his blog here.

Vinaka vaka levu!
